FAQ

Are HSC salt lamps authentic?

Absolutely! Every single product we offer, salt lamps to edible salt, are sourced directly from the pristine foothills of the Himalayan mountains in Pakistan. Remember that a salt lamp must come from the Himalayan mountains to be considered authentic.

How long should I leave my Himalayan salt lamp on?

This is a question we are asked quite frequently, and it is important to understand that Himalayan Salt Lamps act as natural ionizers. It is the heat from the bulb that stimulates the production of negative ions. Therefore, the longer your Himalayan Salt Lamps are on, the warmer they will get and the more they will purify the air in your environment.

Also, salt lamps draw moisture from the environment. Keeping your lamp lit will reduce the amount of accumulated moisture on the lamp’s surface. Always be sure to keep a coaster, plate, or decorative mat underneath your lamp to protect your tabletop’s surface.

In our home and office, we leave our Himalayan Salt Lamps on all the time, but recommend you use at your discretion.

What size salt lamp should I buy?

This is a very common question that we are asked. While there is no limit to the quantity of salt lamps in any room, we have done various tests on the effectiveness of our Himalayan Salt Lamps to generate negative ions, and have developed the following general guidelines. Please note that different companies refer to the sizes of the Himalayan Salt Lamps by various names, so it is important to compare by weight and height, not just name. At Himalayan Salt Cart our lamps are categorized as follows:

How do I clean my salt lamp?

Caring for your genuine Himalayan Salt Lamps and candleholders is a breeze. All you have to do is periodically wipe them with a damp towel or sponge to remove any dust or accumulated residue. You can then dry your Himalayan Salt Lamps with a clean dry towel, or, simply allow them to dry naturally from the heat produced from the bulb or tealight.

To clean our detox dome, we recommend adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol for good measure!

My salt lamp is damp - is that normal?

This is completely normal and an integral part of the salt lamp’s air purification process. Remember, Himalayan salt lamps and candle holders are hygroscopic – meaning that they draw moisture from the environment. As the lamp draws water molecules from the air, it is also eliminating airborne pollutants such as dust, dander, and pollen that travel on these same water molecules.

If you notice that your salt lamp is significantly damp, make sure the area is well ventilated and the humidity levels are reduced. Also, be sure that your salt lamp is turned on. You can always pat dry with a towel or cloth.
